Portrait

In 1968 Paul presented his first solo exhibition at the Regent Gallery in Cheltenham. The show consisted entirely of portraits. He went on to paint people for many years and has recently started again after a residency at the Castle School, Thornbury where the brief was portraiture. In his portraits, as well as a likeness, he attempts to capture something of the essence of the sitter as well as his own relationship with them, no matter how long or brief that may have been.
