In recent years, Paul has been fascinated by the coast in all its forms. The juxtaposition of land and water, solid and liquid provides a challenge that is made more difficult by the ever changing effects of light on colour and form. In many of the paintings he uses the device of near objects; plants, rocks or posts to lead the viewer into the painting.
