Oil on board

Board, sometimes primed and sometimes coated in canvas provides a solid background on which to work. The paint can be actively worked to produce a variety of different effects; thin paint can run when stiff paint will sit. Paint can be pushed, stroked, dribbled or layered, providing a range of textures and surfaces with which to work. Paul�s earlier paintings were all produced using this background and he still occasionally uses board as a foundation.
